Ans. Norma persuaded her husband for that amount because she wanted to fulfill her desires. The couple was financially poor. Also, she has many dreams in her life. She is a very selfish lady. She does not care about anyone's death whom she does not know. She wants this money to buy expensive clothes, to visit Europe and many other things. Even, she does not care about her husband. 

Q.#2. Why did Arthur disagree with Mr. Steward?

Ans. Arthur was a man of good honor. He cares about humanity. He does not want to kill someone whom he does not know. He declares it a murder either he is unknown to him. He believes the murder of someone whom he does not know, is also a murder. 

Q.#3. Why did Mr. Steward continue persuading Norma?

Ans. Mr. Steward was the man who offered her the amount of $50000. He knows that it is easier to seduce females rather than males. ٖFemales are mentally weak than males. They can be easily seduced. In the case of Norma, the lady who has many dreams in her life can be easily seduced. He knows from her expressions that she will accept his offer. So, he continues persuading her.

Ans. The moral lesson of the story is that mutual relationship is important among couples. They should love and respect each other. If one disagrees, the other should listen to him. In this way, no one will ruin their life like Mr. Steward ruins their lives.
